DENVER (KDVR) -- Bundle up and get your tickets: The Denver Zoo is opening its annual Zoo Lights event to the public from Dec. 2 to Jan. 7 this season.The event offers over 80 acres and more than three million lights, according to a press release, in addition to new animated light sculptures, nightly ice-carving exhibitions and festive, seasonal treats. Denver Zoo flamingos move into new habitat Members have early access to the event, although tickets are selling rapidly. The zoo said these tickets sell out annually. Any Denver Zoo member can purchase tickets as early as Nov. 24 for the lights show. Guests can also purchase add-on packages: Zoo it All passes, and Glow packages.Zoo it All passes allow visitors unlimited rides on the Denver Zoo railroad, conservation carousel and the Polar Express Showing at 4D Experience. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Aurora Fire Rescue is responding to a severe house fire in the 18000 block of East Layton Place as of 2 p.m. Saturday. Residents in southern Broward County who were affected by a 48-inch pipe burst at a water treatment plant in Hollywood may resume using water as they normally do, city officials said.In a release issued Saturday afternoon, officials with the city of Hollywood said crews have been able to clean and decontaminate several areas that were impacted by Friday’s pipe failure at the facility, located at 1621 N 14th Ave.In addition to Hollywood, other municipalities that were affected include Dania Beach, Hallandale Beach, Miramar and Pembroke Pines.The areas that that have been decontaminated are as follows:Harding Street between 14th Avenue and 15th CourtScott Street between 14th Avenue and 15th Court16th Avenue between Taft and Harding streets14th Avenue between Taft and Harding streetsLiberty Street between 14th Terrace and 14th Avenue14th Terrace between Liberty and Scott streetsCoolidge and Arthur streetsAn alleyway west of 16th Avenue between Taft and Harding streetsCleanup effo...Police investigating apparent murder-suicide in Rehoboth

Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Rehoboth on Saturday, officials said.Officers conducted a well-being check on Summer Street around 11 a.m. after getting a 911 call from a relative of Barbara Cruz, 77, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, when she heard shouting and then the phone disconnected, according to a statement issued by the Bristol District Attorney’s Office. When officers arrived they found two deceased gunshot victims and an uninjured 84-year-old woman. A preliminary investigation suggests Omar Bradley, 72, who had been living at the home with the 84-year-old woman, shot and killed the 84-year-old woman’s sister and then himself, according to the release. The deceased sister has been identified as Cruz. WORCESTER — In the Div. 2 volleyball state finals, No. 1 Westborough (21-1) looked to defend its title against No. 3 Canton (24-1) at Worcester State University. The top-seeded Rangers put together a clinic, rolling to a 3-0 victory to repeat as champions.“I’m extremely proud of our girls. They earned it,” said Westborough coach Roger Anderson, “(The seniors) set a level of play at Westborough High School that was just off the charts.”Westborough were led by star senior Quinn Anderson with 19 kills and 10 digs. DEVENS — Halfway through the cross country season it looked as though Cambridge’s Aoife Shovlin may not regain her strength for strong showings in the championship race.Shovlin proved any naysayers wrong with a big smile across the finish line in the Div. 1 race at Saturday’s Meet of Champions.Racing in chilly conditions on the challenging course, Shovlin assumed the lead early and turned it into a runaway. Shovlin was never challenged as she danced across the finish line in 18 minutes, 6.29 seconds to easily defend her title. Oliver Ames’ Katie Sobieraj was a distant second to Shovlin in 18:29.21 and Westfield’s Megan Moran grabbed the bronze in 18:29.69.Shovlin was far more aggressive this go around than last year.“I wanted to run from the front and see just how fast I could go,” she said. “This definitely boosted my confidence.
