New basketball courts open at Tower Grove Park ST. LOUIS - It was all smiles Friday afternoon at Tower Grove Park as St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones helped cut the ribbon on the new basketball courts.  "It sends a signal to our community that parks are welcome for everyone no matter how you choose to have fun,” said Jones.The two basketball courts had been years in the making, part of Tower Grove Park's 2017 Master plan. Councilmembers introduce motion to allow street vending on Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles City Councilmembers are taking action to create special street vending zones across parts of Los Angeles. On Friday, Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez and Council President Paul Krekorian introduced a motion at the City Council meeting to eliminate the no-vending zone on Hollywood Boulevard that has been in place for five years. The no-vending zones were established by the City Council in 2018, prohibiting street vending in those areas. If the motion passes, street vendors, advocacy organizations and community members will work with the city to create a "special vending zone" on Hollywood Boulevard as part of a first of its kind pilot project. Father, daughter charged in killing and robbery of man in Newport Beach A Brea man has been charged with murder and is eligible for the death penalty after he allegedly stabbed a man to death in Newport Beach to steal his Rolex watch.Randolph Loren Aguirre, 55, faces one felony count of murder and one felony count of second-degree robbery.
