4 ‘suspicious’ fires reported in Concord at the post office, National Park, and swim center

Four “suspicious” fires were reportedly set in Concord on Sunday at the post office, National Park and a swim center, according to officials who have identified a person of interest for the alleged arson spree.Investigators outside of Concord District Court also found items that were possibly related to the other fires. No fire was reported at the courthouse on Sunday.First responders initially at noon received reports of a fire at the Beede Swim and Fitness Center at 498 Walden St., which is located on the campus of Concord-Carlisle Regional High School.Upon arrival, crews found two fires — one of which was behind the swim center and the other was located in front of the center.Then about 30 minutes later, Concord Police and Fire received another report of a fire at the U.S. Postal Service at 34 Walden St.The fourth fire was reported about 30 minutes later at a shed on National Park property at 955 Lexington Road.No injuries were reported in the four fires.“...Heavy rains cause flooding and mudslides in southwest Japan, where at least 6 people are missing

TOKYO (AP) — Torrential rain has been pounding southwestern Japan, triggering floods and mudslides and leaving at least six people missing Monday.Rains falling on the regions of Kyushu and Chugoku since the weekend caused flooding along a number of rivers as well as mudslides, closing roads, disrupting trains and cutting the water supply in some areas.The Japan Meteorological Agency issued an emergency heavy rain warning for Fukuoka and Oita prefectures on the southern main island of Kyushu, urging residents in riverside and hillside areas to take maximum caution. HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – A brush fire near Hilliard Road in Hays County is about 50 acres in size as of Sunday evening, according to the Hays County Office of Emergency Services.Hays County said the Vineyard Hill fire was about 90% contained as of 6 p.m. Sunday. County officials said minimum crews will remain on scene overnight to observe and extinguish any potential hot spots. "We've got plenty of water on hand," Mike Jones, Hays County's director of emergency services, said. LOUIS – Crews with the St. Louis Water Division were out Sunday to fix new main breaks from over the weekend, the latest of which happened near Tower Grove Park.City officials cited outdated infrastructure as the reason for the recent water main breaks around town."The concrete was popping up, and the next thing I know, water was shooting out of it. LOUIS – The You Paid For It team successfully helped a St. Louis woman get her towed vehicle back.Raven Mayford contacted FOX 2 several weeks ago after her 2004 Durango was towed to the city’s car lot on Hall Street. The St. Louis Streets Department oversees that facility.Mayford paid nearly $400 to get her vehicle out, but said the undercarriage of the SUV was damaged during the tow process. The Durango was drivable before the tow, she said.Her vehicle sat outside the tow facility, where it was vandalized. Finally, it was towed back instead, and the storage charges added up again.
