BERLIN (AP) — Two people were killed and one was wounded as a gunman opened fire at two locations in a southern Swiss town on Monday and then fled, police said. The suspect was arrested on Monday afternoon. Authorities were alerted to a wounded person in a parking lot in Sion, the capital of the Valais canton at 7:15 a.m., police said. They found a 34-year-old woman with a fatal gunshot wound. A 41-year-old man was shot and killed a few minutes later and a 49-year-old woman was wounded. The two victims and the wounded woman were all from the Vallais region, police said. Police launched a manhunt and issued an appeal for people to come forward with any information on a 36-year-old believed to be the gunman. The Prince William County School Board last week approved an amendment that will change the board’s citizen comment policy, increasing the number of speakers allowed in public comment time.Board members on Dec. 5 supported a revised version of an amendment proposed at the board’s last meeting; the revision was based on public comments and remarks submitted by board members.The newer, now-adopted version of the amendment increases the number of citizen comment slots from 20 to 30. In the case that 20 or less people sign up to speak, each speaker will be able to speak for three minutes, which is the current policy.In the case that more than 20 speakers sign up, with the 30-speaker cap, speaker’s time will be reduced to two minutes per person. One person was taken into custody after police established a perimeter around Coral Gables Preparatory Academy as they searched for burglary suspects, officials said.7Skyforce hovered over the school, located at 105 Minorca Ave., Monday morning, where a woman was seen in handcuffs. As a precaution, the school was placed in temporary lockdown as authorities investigated the scene. Three students from Lauderdale Lakes Middle School were taken to the hospital after getting sick at school, according to the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.Officials say the kids took an unknown substance at the school which is located at 3911 NW 30th Avenue.They were transported to the Broward Health Medical Center and HCA Northwest Hospital. On Monday morning, firefighters continued to monitor smoky conditions after a grass fire near Zoo Miami filled the sky with flames and smoke.Around 8:06 p.m. Sunday, the fire erupted in a grassy area off Southwest 119 Avenue and 168th Street, leaving locals in awe.Yarelis Pavon, a resident in the vicinity, described the scene “It was a lot of smoke and fire,” she said. “You saw red; you saw the firefighters coming with their big truck.”Pavon captured the intensity of the blaze on video as it grew dangerously close to homes, causing panic among residents. “Me and my family were super nervous. We are getting new video of what Florida Highway Patrol troopers saw as they tried to stop a runaway van on December 5th. The new video shows troopers colliding with the van various times, and creating multiple pit-maneuvers in an effort to stop the vehicle. According to Florida Highway Patrol, troopers attempted to stop the van on I-95 in the area of Northwest 69th Street but the driver did not stop. The vehicle ended up stopping on SR-112 in Miami Dade. That is when Jose Carlos Blanciquett jumped out of the stolen van and began running on foot, until he surrendered moments after. Florida Highway Patrol officials released the charges of his arrest; he now faces charges of grand theft, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, battery on a law enforcement officer, and sexual battery.Officials said no officer on scene of the pursuit was hurt.
