By Erika MathieuSunny South NewsA local family is just beginning to find a way out of the ashes.After a traumatic house-fire just a few weeks before the holidays, Danita McGinn said trying to navigate life post-fire has been a struggle.The lifelong Coaldale resident and her husband Buck, have several grown children and a three-year-old daughter who stays with Danita and her husband most of the time in a shared parenting arrangement.On Dec. 6, the family heard a loud explosion, and moments later, turbulent flames permeated their home, leaving them with mere moments to get out. A fire had erupted quietly behind the drywall. The cause: a decades-old handy-work error where a drywall screw had wound up through a wire tucked behind the walls of the storage room. Over time, the material encasing the wire wore away, causing heat, and eventual flames. By Erika MathieuSunny South NewsPalliser School Division has received funding to further assess educational needs and infrastructure in the Town of Coalhurst.As part of the Province’s 2023 budget, 58 projects are to benefit students including the funding of 13 full constructions projects, 14 planning, and 11 pre-planning projects. According to the Government of Alberta, these projects will add nearly 25,000 new and upgraded spaces for students in the coming years.Of the $372 million earmarked for construction and design, Coalhurst’s high school modernization project will receive funding for the planning and pre-planning stages to determine what kind of facility will best serve the community in the coming years.Minister of Infrastructure and Lethbridge East UCP MLA, Nathan Neudorf, said he was pleased with Budget 2023 during the March 7 legislature meeting. Police arrested Geisler following a search warrant and investigation on his home in Fultonville. (NEWS10) - On Wednesday morning, the majority of Warren and Washington counties were in better shape following 8 to 16 inches of snowfall that came down across the region starting late Monday night. Washington County is providing bottled water and dry ice to those still without power as well as activating warming stations. EPHRATAH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Ephratah woman was arrested and is accused of falsely reporting a child sex abuse incident, according to New York State Police. Police say on February 14, around 9:32 p.m., they responded to an Ephratah home for a reported domestic dispute. Police say Emden alleged an adult she knew was sexually abusing children. Through an investigation with the Fulton County Child Protective Services, police say no indication of abuse was found. Police say they determined Emden's allegations were knowingly baseless and later attempted to withdraw her report. Emden was arrested and processed at Mayfield State Police.
