ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A family of raccoons is contributing to the nightmare of a north St. Louis County family. Recently, Gloria Brown has been hearing strange noises in a home she's been renting with help from the St. Louis Housing Authority. Turns out, the noises were from a family of raccoons. Brown, a working mother, took a picture of the momma raccoon on the roof and shared it with the You Paid For It team. Rather than running, the raccoon just sauntered back and forth and stared at Brown while she took snapshots. Brown couldn’t get the landlord to take action, nor could she get help from the housing authority for dealing with the raccoon. Deputy shot in Lincoln County; suspect found dead “It’s scary. It’s huge. It’s aggressive," said Brown. "It ain’t running from us. We are running from it." Brown says the raccoon made a hole through her roof and fears its babies are also inhabiting the home. "I hear them every morning. It's too much," said Brown. Even her neighbor, Mike ...Support growing for wounded Lincoln County deputy

When Californians are asked to identify the biggest problems facing the state, homelessness and the high cost of living consistently rise to the top of the list. While they are not one and the same, experts say both can trace their roots to the same problem: a housing shortage in the Golden State.A recent study conducted by the University of California, San Francisco found that in the six months prior to becoming homeless, survey participants reported a median monthly household income of $960, which amounts to just $11,520 a year.According to Zillow, the median rent for a two-bedroom apartment in California is three times that: $2,869 a month or $34,428 per year.“The results of the study confirm that far too many Californians experience homelessness because they cannot afford housing,” said Dr. Margot Kushel, one of the study’s authors. “I think it’s really important to note how desperately poor people are, and how much it is their poverty and the high housing costs that are leading ...Suspected Inland Empire bank robber arrested in San Diego

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers botched the Trey Lance project from start to finish. But thank goodness it’s over.Lance was supposed to be the Niners’ “franchise” quarterback — the future of the team, the foundation of the roster. And yet, the Niners could never quite decide on him. This isn’t to say that the 49ers didn’t have a plan for Lance. They did. The issue is that their plans consistently changed for three seasons. On Friday, the Niners decided on a new plan: him to the Cowboys. The former No. 3 overall pick — who cost three first-round picks to select — was cashed in for a future Day 3 draft pick. One can’t imply that Lance had fallen because he never actually rose. And while Lance is in no way exonerated for his failure of a Niners tenure and all that unrealized potential, the fact is that this pairing of quarterback and team was doomed from the start. And worse yet, if the pairing of Lance and his new team is charmed, one of the Niners’ to...Simone Biles’ stunning performance gives her commanding lead at U.S. Gymnastics Championships in San Jose
