(CNN) — Musician Ed Sheeran played guitar and sang on the stand Thursday as part of his testimony in a copyright infringement trial about whether his smash single “Thinking Out Loud” copied the classic Marvin Gaye song “Let’s Get It On.”Sheeran played the opening line of “Thinking Out Loud” in an attempt to rebut the testimony of the plaintiff’s expert witness, Alexander Stewart.Stewart is a music expert first called by the plaintiffs on Wednesday. On Thursday, Stewart claimed the chords Sheeran played in the first 24 seconds of the song were “virtually identical” to “Let’s Get It On.”Sheeran denied he played the chords in the way Stewart described, and played the two versions to show the difference.“It helps his argument, obviously,” Sheeran said. “It works very, very, well for him, but it’s not the truth.”Sheeran was previously briefly called to testify Tuesday b...‘Put it on me’: Chicago White Sox GM Rick Hahn takes responsibility for the team’s worst start since 1986

Rick Hahn made it clear.“Put it on me,” the Chicago White Sox general manager said Thursday when asked about the team’s rough start. “That’s the job. It’s the absolute gig.”Entering the opener of a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday at Guaranteed Rate Field, the Sox found themselves with their worst 25-game start since 1986 at 7-18.“Put it on me,” Hahn continued. “I’ll tell you this, let’s make this real clear, it sure as heck isn’t on (manager) Pedro (Grifol) and his coaching staff. They are doing everything in their power to prepare, focus on what’s controllable, what’s fixable, addressing the problems as they arise. And are really doing everything in their power to get this thing right. It’s absolutely not on the manager and the coaches.“Ultimately it’s the players who play the game, and when they don’t achieve at the level we’ve projected, ...MBTA pension payments for Carmen’s Union

ARLINGTON — Aaron Judge could get time off during the Yankees’ four-game set against the Texas Rangers, but not because of the right hand he banged up Wednesday afternoon, manager Aaron Boone said.Judge was in the Yankees lineup for Thursday’s series opener in Arlington — his first game there since he slugged his record-setting 62nd home run of the 2022 season last October.“I considered giving him a day today, and I might in this series, but no, after talking through it with him and the trainers, and then once he was all right today, no, I feel good about it,” Boone said before Thursday’s game.Judge rolled up on the hand during a slide into third base in Wednesday’s 12-6 win over the Minnesota Twins. He briefly disappeared into the clubhouse after the play and was seen flexing the hand in the dugout, but he remained in the game and later recorded a hit.Asked about the status of his hand before Thursday’s game, Judge replied, R...Sounds fishy

SAN DIEGO -- A judge has decided to unseal records in a civil case involving a teenager claiming she was raped by former San Diego State University punter and former Buffalo Bill's pick Matt Araiza during an off-campus house party in October 2021. “I'm not the police chief, I don't know what they're going to say, but as far as I'm concerned, in this court, I have unsealed it with a protective order," Judge Jeffrey Fraser said. “We’re happy, we recognize that it’s a first step, we appreciate the judge’s thoughtful consideration of our motion to unseal these records, we believe these records are the best evidence," Kristen Bush, one of Matt Araiza's attorneys said. "This is an initial issue, it’s an initial hurdle to us accessing key evidence in this case, and Matt’s life has been destroyed by the false allegations that have been inserted by the plaintiff in this lawsuit." MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump turned his attention to the general election on Thursday, using his first campaign appearance since President Joe Biden launched his own reelection bid to boast of his poll numbers and suggest that he has no need to debate his Republican rivals.Trump’s appearance in New Hampshire marked his first return to an early voting state since his legal troubles increased with an indictment in New York. He spoke on the same day that his former vice president, Mike Pence, testified before a federal grand jury investigating efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election. Meanwhile, writer E. Jean Carroll testified for a second day Thursday in a civil rape case against Trump over an encounter in the 1990s, an allegation he denies. “We are a nation in serious decline, a nation that has lost its way,” Trump said at a downtown Manchester hotel, a smaller venue than his typical, large-scale rallies. “We are led by a hopeless person...REVIEW: Are You There God?
