ST. LOUIS -- "The Hum" is a worldwide phenomenon that has many people searching for answers. The BBC reported on it in 2009, saying that the elusive low buzz has been blamed on everything from power lines, gas pipes, to "sinister forces." Although, some of the reasons people hear the hum may come from inside their own heads.People in the St. Louis area have reported the issue to FOX 2 for years. We've received phone calls and emails from concerned citizens that say they hear a strange low-repeating noise. The low rumble sounds like a generator running in the distance. The mapA website run by former University of British Columbia lecturer Dr. Glen MacPherson is dedicated to mapping the hum and sharing reports from people around the world. He first noticed the sound in 2012 and wanted a place to research the sound. People report the location, timing, and nature of the noise. Denver is not moving forward with plans to hire a private security company to take over the city’s migrant sheltering efforts, Mayor Michael Hancock’s office announced Thursday, less than two weeks after backlash began over the proposed $40 million contract. The Denver City Council was scheduled to vote on the contract with GardaWorld Federal Services on Monday. However, after nonprofit leaders met with city staff and company representatives Wednesday, they said their concerns only grew about the international company’s history of alleged abuses and mistreatment, as well as its lack of experience in sheltering migrants. In a written statement, the outgoing mayor’s office stated that it had hoped to finish negotiations, community engagement and get council approval prior to the new administration taking over, but there’s more work to be done.“With more than 500 Central and South American refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants still in our care, we con...Texas man reported missing as teen was returned home the next day but deceived officers, police say

A Texas man who was reported missing as a teenager in 2015 returned home the next day but he and his mother deceived officers by giving false names over the ensuing eight years, police said Thursday.Houston police detectives said prosecutors have declined to bring false report charges against Janie Santana and her son, Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV, but that their investigation is continuing. The announcement came a week after police said they found Farias after receiving a call about a person lying on the ground in front of a southeast Houston church.Authorities had not previously said where Farias, now 25, spent the eight years since he was reported missing after taking his two dogs for a walk near his family’s home in northeast Houston. He was hospitalized after police found him last week and detectives interviewed him and his mother on Wednesday.“After investigators talked with him yesterday, it was discovered that Rudy returned home the following day on March 8, 2015," Lt. There are few people on the planet that love hash as much as Ashley Gaetrig, co-founder of one of the top hardware companies in solventless hash, IceExtract.I’ve had the pleasure of judging solventless at The Emerald Cup with Gaetrig for the last couple of years. It’s easy to presume she brings the same focus levels to all her work as she does judging the world’s best hash.Much of the time over the years she made the hash she was smoking alongside her husband Eric. She emphasized it’s a shared journey. The affection for hash she shares with him proved a major catalyst for where their lives ended up. The pair started growing in Michigan for personal use 20 years ago. Eventually, the medical laws passed and they decided to take it to the next level as caregivers.“Then we got some patients and we were growing the weed for them and basically charging them really cheap prices, $100 an ounce,” Ashley told L.A. Weekly. “That was on top of what we gave to them for free. And then they were b...Maureen Gagne Pronounced Dead after ATV Crash on Young Creek Road [Mendocino County, CA]
