AUSTIN (Nexstar) — After five months of discord and a now a special session, top Republican leaders remain at a tense impasse over how best to lower property taxes. The Texas Legislature, which finished its regular session Monday, already set aside $17.6 billion from the state's budget to give Texans property tax relief. However, ideological differences between the two chambers about how to deliver that stalled lawmakers Monday from adjourning. They inevitably gaveled out that evening sine die, or indefinitely, without a deal. Less than three hours later, Governor Greg Abbott called lawmakers back to the Capitol for a special session with demands for property tax relief and border security bills. The next day, Senators quickly passed a property tax plan that included steps to expand the state's homestead exemption, the amount of a home's value that is exempt from property taxes. The Senate then recessed until Friday.Hours later Tuesday, the House Speaker Dade Phelan said House lawmak...Two-line fishing option comes to Minnesota River starting July 1

Come July 1, anglers can legally use two lines during the open water season while fishing the Minnesota River downstream of the Granite Falls dam to Pool 2 on the Mississippi River.Gov. Tim Walz signed into law the legislation that opens roughly 250 river miles of the Minnesota River for two-line fishing. Anglers are restricted to one line while fishing all other inland waters except during the ice fishing season, when two lines are allowed.Allowing two lines during the open water season on the Minnesota River below the dam in Granite Falls to Pool 2 on the Mississippi River, which becomes legal on July 1, 2023, will likely have a negligible effect on the fishery, including channel catfish as shown here. The Federal Reserve's efforts to curb inflation have pushed interest rates to levels unseen in more than two decades, and the number of home sales has been on the decline since its pandemic peak. But homes are still selling, even if slowly. And they're still increasing in price, even if that increase has been slowed just a bit too. In fact, some are still selling for slightly more than the list price, and sellers continue to have the upper hand in some markets. Because of the market change, only 43 metros of more than 150 evaluated have homes selling over asking.Stacker analyzed data from Redfin to see which metros had the most homes sold over asking price. Data shows sales for the month of April 2023. Metros with 300 or more home sales were included. They are ranked on the average sale-to-list ratio, which is a ratio of a home's sale price divided by its list price. Values were rounded to the nearest hundredth. Also listed are the median list price for homes on the market in April, ...Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray the new Tim Duncan and Tony Parker? Heat’s Kyle Lowry thinks so.

Nikola Jokic has gotten the Tim Duncan comparison before.A reserved, no-nonsense leader more concerned with winning than anything else, Jokic even admitted he’d modeled his game after the legendary Spurs power forward.“He always had a counter, but he was so patient,” Jokic said.Between their shared pace and elite intuition, Jokic is a worthy Duncan disciple. But veteran Heat point guard Kyle Lowry was asked about Denver’s lethal pairing of Jokic and Murray, and whether he’d ever played a combo as connected as those two.“I’m pretty old in this game right now,” Lowry said. “I played Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. Honestly, that’s a great combination that I got the opportunity to play against. Jamal and Jokic, they’re deadly because they both can score, pass the ball. They’re big targets, and they have a great feel for each other.”Heat coach Erik Spoelstra joked he didn’t know where to start with Denver’s two-man dance.“You have two guys that can score 50 in a playo...Rockies’ five-run first inning sparks second straight win at Kansas City
