Jordan Leslie is ready to empty his basketball tank, because he knows there’s no hardcourt left ahead of him after this winter. The Mullen multi-sport star was one of the top scorers in Class 6A last year at 22.7 points per game. Now this winter, he finds himself headed to play college ball… only in a different sport than the one he always envisioned himself in at the next level.Leslie is committed to play football at Dartmouth. It was a 40-year decision over a four-year one: Leslie believes the educational opportunities, networking and doors opened at an Ivy League institution far outweigh the Division II interest he was receiving in hoops.“I’m still trying to bring (these emotions) in, and control them, and harness them in my play,” Leslie said. “Ever since my freshman year I thought for sure I’d be playing college basketball. And choosing between football and basketball was tough. So this is new to me to have the feeling of a season where,...30 Colorado high school boys basketball players to watch in 2023-24 CHSAA season

Courtland Sutton didn’t need a crystal ball to know what came next as he went in motion against Green Bay.The veteran wide receiver crossed the offensive formation to the left and settled briefly in the slot, creating a bunch with tight end Adam Trautman and receiver Marvin Mims, Jr. to his outside. On the snap, Sutton let both of them clear across his face, worked his way up the left sideline and, voila, found himself all alone thanks to the traffic they created.Tried-and-true concept. Clean execution. Easy throw from Russell Wilson for an 18-yard touchdown.Red zone clinic. If only it was always — or even usually — that simple.Instead, capitalizing in the red zone has been a chore for the Broncos even as they’ve turned their season around over the past month.Paradoxically, it’s been a chore, particularly during the team’s four-game winning streak. They’re officially 7-of-18 over the past four games. They’ve been charged with multiple red zone failures each in wins against ...Me & My Car: 1931 Ford Model A in Dublin a masterpiece hot rod

BEIJING (AP) — A surge in respiratory illnesses across China that has drawn the attention of the World Health Organization is caused by the flu and other known pathogens and not by a novel virus, the country’s health ministry said Sunday.Recent clusters of respiratory infections are caused by an overlap of common viruses such as the influenza virus, rhinoviruses, the respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, the adenovirus as well as bacteria such as mycoplasma pneumoniae, which is a common culprit for respiratory tract infections, a National Health Commission spokesperson said. The ministry called on local authorities to open more fever clinics and promote vaccinations among children and the elderly as the country grapples with a wave of respiratory illnesses in its first full winter since the removal of COVID-19 restrictions.“Efforts should be made to increase the opening of relevant clinics and treatment areas, extend service hours and increase the supply of medicines,” said min...Police detain 2 people after 3-year-old girl fatally shot in Tamarac hotel

A child was shot and killed at a Tamarac hotel — and the victim was just three years old. Detectives spent Saturday evening in one unit at the Extended Stay America on West Commercial Blvd in Tamarac, where they say a shooting claimed the life of a three-year-old girl, just after 8 a.m.Neighbors in the area say they were hearing a ruckus throughout the night and then later in the morning, hearing a gun go off.“Pow, it exploded so one shot. That was it,” said a neighbor who heard the incident. This neighbor said she came out of her room.“I was coming out the door, I could hear some screaming. My baby dead, my baby dead,” she continued. Fire rescue arrived to find the little girl accompanied by a woman. They then pronounced the child dead on the scene.Several Broward deputies swarmed the area and taped it off, where a forensics trailer was seen parked in front of the room most of the afternoon. K-9s were brought to sniff around for evidence.Investigators later f...Moscow adds Meta spokesperson to criminal wanted list: Report

Russia’s interior ministry has added the spokesperson of U.S. tech giant Meta Andy Stone to its wanted list, Russian state-owned news agency TASS reported. Stone “is wanted under an article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the agency reported, citing the ministry’s database. The reason Stone was added to the list was not indicated, according to the report. In 2022, following Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine, Moscow officially designated the American tech company — which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp — as a “terrorist and extremist” organization. That opened the door to heavier legal proceedings against its users in the country.Western social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) were banned from Russia and are only accessible in the country through VPNs. On Sunday, Russian authorities also said they downed 24 Ukrainian drones. The day before, Russia had launched the larg...Amid fragile truce, Israel and Hamas prepare to exchange more hostages, prisoners

Israel and Hamas are expected to go through a third round of hostage-prisoner swap on Sunday amid a fragile truce in the fighting in the Gaza Strip.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has received a list of the names of the hostages set to be freed and has informed the families, Israeli media reported on Sunday. According to Haaretz, at least one of the hostages expected to be released is Russian and part of a deal between Hamas and Moscow. The exchanges are part of a four-day truce agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt and the U.S. that started on Friday. Overall, Hamas is set to free 50 hostages in exchange for Israel releasing 150 Palestinian prisoners. On October 7, Hamas’ armed wing led an attack on Israel, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping about 240 more. In retaliation, the Israeli armed forces relentlessly bombarded the Gaza Strip and launched a ground operation, leveling entire neighborhoods and killing over 14,000 Palestinians.
