The weather in metro Denver on Tuesday will be the warmest this year as the sun shines down under clear blue skies without significant precipitation, drying out trees, shrubs, and soil, according to the National Weather Service.Wind will blow across the state, gusting at speeds up to 21 miles per hour in Colorado Front Range cities, and faster high at high elevations in the mountains, weather service forecasters said.The high temperature in Denver will be 97 degrees, decreasing to 64 degrees at night, forecasters said. One person was killed and several lanes were closed in a crash on the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday morning.The incident was reported around 5 a.m. in the southbound lanes near North Los Angeles Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. A vehicle somehow struck and killed a pedestrian but no further details about the crash were immediately available. Three lanes were blocked on the southbound side of the freeway as a result of the collision. A SigAlert for the lane closures was issued shortly after the crash. A man died after he was shot multiple times in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood of South Los Angeles Monday afternoon.The man, only identified as being in his early-to-mid 40s, was shot in the 8500 block of Graham Avenue at about 3:40 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. He suffered gunshot wounds to his upper and lower torso, though officials did not specify the number of times he was shot. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.No information about the shooter or shooters was available, and the investigation is ongoing. A Solano County Jail inmate last week pleaded no contest to the 2018 murder of a transient and to the 2020 assault of a female corrections officer and will face 25 years to life in state prison, The Reporter has learned.Derek Edward Dunlap Jr., 32, who, in advance of his July 24 trial for the killing, appeared July 7 in Department 23 for pre-trial matters and entered no-contest pleas in both cases.With the pleas, which included a dismissal of an attempted murder charge in the jail assault case, Dunlap did not admit guilt but stated, essentially, he would offer no defense.Solano County Superior Court Judge John B.
