SAN JOSE — Spirit Airlines launched on Wednesday its first-ever flights from San Jose International Airport, an expansion that bolsters the Silicon Valley aviation hub’s quest to recover from its coronavirus-spawned maladies.The first flight departed San Jose Airport around 10:39 a.m. Wednesday to start a trip to Dallas that was slated to last three hours and 33 minutes.Spirit Airlines, an airline that offers low-cost fares, initiated its San Jose service with flights to Las Vegas, Dallas-Forth Worth and San Diego.The Vegas flights are twice-daily trips while the Dallas and San Diego flights are daily trips.“San Jose has so much to offer travelers and our affordable fares will make it easier for our guests to discover the Bay Area,” said John Kirby, vice president of networking planning with Spirit Airlines.Detached house sells in San Jose for $2.3 million

(KRON) -- A "major" medical emergency on a Bay Area Rapid Transportation train brought the Bay Fair station to a stop on Wednesday afternoon, according to BART officials. At least three people were arrested after fights broke out amid a Glendale school district meeting on the inclusion of LGBTQ+ studies on Tuesday.Large barricades set up by Glendale Police to control crowds were seen containing hundreds of demonstrators outside of the Glendale Unified School District headquarters.A dispersal order was issued around 6:15 p.m. as police were heard using a loudspeaker to order the crowds’ removal, declaring an unlawful assembly. A large barricade was placed in the middle of the parking lot, separating the two contentious groups.While most of the protest remained peaceful, police said a "small group of individuals engaged in behavior deemed unsafe and a risk to public safety." Councilmember Kevin Wilk, who was Walnut Creek's first Jewish mayor and city council member, said Wednesday there were "pretty stunning comments" made by four different callers. One caller, who identified himself as "Scottie, resident of Walnut Creek," said "I'm calling today to address some irrational statements made by certain council members who know who they are, regarding the pro white banners that they cried about on the news probably about six months back." SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Officials are advising the public to avoid Duboce Avenue and Castro Street due to a natural gas leak Wednesday morning. The San Francisco Fire Department has evacuated a one-block radius of the intersection, according to a tweet from Supervisor Aaron Peskin, whose district includes the impacted area. Juvenile dies in fatal pedestrian collision in San Jose Emergency crews, including PG&E and the San Francisco Fire Department, are currently on scene after a 16-inch water main break and a natural gas leak occurred, according to SFFD. The water main break built up pressure underground which led to a break in a sewer line and a gas line.Gas then infiltrated the sewers and underground area, Peskin said.The earlier threat from the utility disruption has been stabilized, according to a tweet from SFFD.
