ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)--Starting November 1, applications are being accepted for the Home Energy Assistance Program, known as HEAP. SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Police arrested Brendan A. Coogan, 29, of Schenectady. Coogan was determined to have stolen a utility truck and a construction trailer from a business in Princetown on July 31. Coogan, who was being held at the Schenectady County Correctional Facility on an unrelated matter, was arrested on a warrant. He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree.Coogan was transported to SP Princetown for processing and arraigned at the Schenectady City Court. ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police are investigating a shooting in downtown Thursday afternoon.The shooting happened at 14th and Market streets prior to 4 p.m., according to Sgt. ST. LOUIS -- A man is under arrest for a fatal shooting Sunday. Edward Gray is accused of killing Charles McBride, 42, in the 7800 block of Rio Silva. He faces charges including murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is being held in police custody with no bond allowed.Officers were called to the Carondelet neighborhood on October 29 to investigate a shooting. A caller told police that his friend was shot inside an apartment. Police found the victim in the kitchen of the vacant apartment with gunshot wounds. Benefiting from significant recent snowfall and temperatures conducive for snowmaking operations, two more Colorado ski areas have announced they are opening this week, bringing the number of operating areas to four.Eldora and Winter Park will kick off their seasons on Friday. Eldora’s opening comes two weeks earlier than scheduled and will mark one of its earliest openings in the past 30 years. Eldora has received 15 inches of natural snow in recent days and plans to open three trails with a vertical drop of 1,000 feet. A small terrain park also will be operating.Winter Park also received 15 inches of natural snow in recent days. Six Flags is nearing a deal to merge with Cedar Fair Entertainment, a move that would combine two of the largest regional theme park companies in the U.S., the Wall Street Journal reported.An agreement between the two companies could be announced this week. Cedar Fair owns theme parks nationwide, including Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, while Six Flags operates 27 parks across the U.S., Mexico and Canada.The Journal reported that the merger of the two companies would bolster Six Flags’ parks portfolio, especially in the Midwest. Five Hospitalized after Rollover Accident near Interstate 5BELLINGHAM, WA (November 1, 2023) – Kiya Winder died Sunday morning while four others sustained injuries in a rollover collision on Northwest Avenue. Authorities responded to the scene just before 1:00 a.m., near Interstate 5 on October 29th.Police officers say a northbound pickup-truck veered off the road before slamming into a concrete barrier near Northwest Avenue. Upon impact, the pickup-truck overturned, injuring five of its occupants.Medical personnel transported the driver, 18-year-old Winter and four others to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Investigators later said most of the occupants were not wearing seat belts.
