BURBANK, Ill. — A man and woman are dead after a shooting Thursday evening inside a restaurant in Burbank.According to the Burbank Police Department, officers were called to the restaurant around 6:40 p.m. in the 6500 block of West 79th Street. The man was taken to a hospital and later died. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- For years, teachers in Austin Independent School District have been working to get a pay increase, but will it happen?On Thursday, members from Education Austin, which is the union representing AISD employees, rallied outside AISD headquarters, chanting and telling stories about why salaries need to increase. ”A lot of our teachers are working two to three jobs, a lot of TAs and other positions are working two to three jobs just to make ends meet," said Denise Hankins, a TA in AISD. A homeless man allegedly bit off a portion of an officer’s finger during an arrest at a Metro subway station in East Hollywood on Thursday.Los Angeles police officers assigned to the Metro Red Line were conducting routine activities when they spotted a male suspect “board the train in possession of narcotic paraphernalia" around 10:15 a.m.Police approached the suspect and escorted him off the train to investigate. As the suspect was being held, he became violent and began fighting with officers which resulted in a use-of-force incident.During the incident, the suspect bit off a portion of a sergeant's finger, said LAPD.The sergeant was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
