MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Mechanicville Police Department arrested a Stillwater man after an occurance of shots being fired. Kevin Masterson, 51, is facing multiple charges. Late in the evening on May 5, officers responded to the area of Frances Street and North Main Street following reports of gunfire. Evidence was found at the scene confirming the reports, which prompted the start of an investigation. During the investigation, officers took a call for a burglary in which handguns were stolen from a city residence, and police additionally located a stolen handgun in the Anthony Kill. CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mo. - A Mid-Missouri man matched a state record with his longear sunfish catch from earlier this month. Jefferson City resident John Goad reeled in a 5-ounce longear sunfish on May 8 on Frieda Lake in Crawford County. The Missouri Department of Conservation says most fish of this species aren't larger than seven inches or 4.5 ounces. The previous state record was caught on a private pond in Franklin County in July 2021. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man died after reportedly shooting at Kansas City police officers and triggering a standoff in a Westside neighborhood near West 17th and West Pennway streets Thursday night into overnight Friday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating after KCPD officers initially went to the scene at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday for reports of a man who was firing a gun.The highway patrol says when officers arrived that man fired shots inside a residence and then fired in proximity of the officers, who shot back. The suspect wasn't hit and retreated. A SWAT team responded and the standoff began.After negotiations for a surrender started around 12:30 a.m., investigators say the man began shooting at officers again, who returned fire, striking and killing the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene. SAN DIEGO (Border Report) -- The Border Patrol is reporting that twice this week, some of its agents in the San Diego Sector had to evade gunfire coming from south of the border as they patrolled the border with Mexico.One incident reportedly occurred just yards north of the border on Monday night less than a mile east of the San Ysidro port of entry. According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents were rendering aid to an injured 4-year-old boy when they had to take cover to avoid being hit by bullets.The boy had been dropped from the primary border barrier by an unknown individual who was entering the United States, officials with Border Patrol say. Five major U.S. cities and the state of California will receive federal help to get unsheltered residents into permanent housing under a new plan launched Thursday as part of the Biden administration's larger goal to reduce homelessness 25% by 2025.The All Inside initiative will partner the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and its 19 federal member agencies with state officials in California and local governments in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle and the Phoenix metro area.
