LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) — Police determined Tuesday that a car crash that injured a group of migrant workers in North Carolina was accidental, but the driver has been charged with a felony hit-and-run for fleeing the scene.New evidence led police to change their original assessment that the crash was intentional, said Maj. Brian Greene, interim chief of the Lincolnton Police Department.Daniel Gonzalez, 68, turned himself in to the police a day after he allegedly drove his black SUV into the workers, injuring six, while trying to park Sunday outside a Walmart in Lincolnton. Family members who accompanied Gonzalez to the police department told detectives that he had hit the gas pedal accidentally and left the scene in a panic.“Based on the statements and after consulting with the District Attorney’s Office we are treating this as accidental,” Greene said Tuesday. “People were still injured, and he left the scene, so he was charged with felony hit-and-run” with a $50,000 secure bond. The ...Denver weather: Thunderstorms to deliver more rain in the coming days

Federal prosecutors have charged Donald Trump with conspiring to seize a second term after losing the 2020 election, alleging a sweeping campaign of deceit and abuses that threatened the foundations of American democracy. In a 45-page indictment unveiled Tuesday, special counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with four felony counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding.“Despite having lost, the Defendant was determined to remain in power,” the indictment said. “So for more than two months following election day on November 3, 2020, the Defendant spread lies that there had been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that he had actually won. These claims were false, and the Defendant knew that they were false.”The indictment identified six individuals as co-conspirators in Trump’s effort to overturn the election, but none of those people were charged Tuesday. Though the alleged co-conspirators were not named,...Supermoon Tonight, Nice Few Days Ahead

FOXBORO — Mac Jones’ best practice of training camp started with a near pick. After hitting three straight completions to open a 7-on-7 period, Jones lofted his final throw near the right sideline where JuJu Smith-Schuster was supposed to finish his deep corner route. There was one problem.Young cornerback Marcus Jones had drifted backwards from his short zone drop to camp under the ball and intercept it. Recognizing the danger at hand, Smith-Schuster used his six-inch height advantage to break up the pass upon its arrival. Jones then retreated to the sideline – and leveled up.Jones finished his day going 7-of-10 in team drills, scoring two touchdowns in a final red-zone period versus Bill Belichick’s top defense. He weaponized tempo, audibles and his best trait – accuracy within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage – over the best showing by any quarterback this summer.
