Patients seeking abortion, gender-affirming care at risk of increased surveillance: report  (The Hill) -- Patients seeking out-of-state abortions and gender-affirming care are at risk of increased surveillance from law enforcement, according to a new report.The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (STOP) released a report Tuesday detailing the elevated dangers for patients who travel for abortions or gender-affirming care.  “Surveillance doesn’t stop at the state line,” said Albert Fox Cahn, the executive director of STOP. “Even as progressive states seek to protect abortion and gender-affirming care within our borders, anti-choice states are continuing to expand the threat that they will prosecute residents who leave the state to find evidence-based medical treatment.”  Cahn emphasized that it’s crucial for patients to understand how they can be tracked by law enforcement even when outside of the state, writing, “Every hotel reservation and bridge toll will be just one subpoena away from being used against a patient in court.”  The report comes a little ove...

Musician to perform on storied pipe organ at Mahtomedi Church Organist Andrew Johnson will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 28, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi.Johnson will be performing pieces from Mendelssohn, one arranged by himself and will end the concert with the final from Symphonie V. Op. 47 by Louis Vierne who played the inaugural performance on the organ in 1927. The perfomance is free.Johnson is from Bloomington, Ind., and will be pursuing a Doctorate of Organ Performance and Literature at the University of Rochester in the fall. Bison injures Minnesota woman at Theodore Roosevelt National Park MEDORA, N.D. – A Minnesota woman was severely injured by a bison at Painted Canyon in Theodore Roosevelt National Park on Saturday, the National Park Service reported Tuesday. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Dickinson, N.D., and later to Fargo, where she was last reported to be in serious but stable condition.According to a news release from the Park Service, park staff were notified about 11 a.m. Saturday of the incident, which took place at the Painted Canyon Trailhead. Park rangers and Billings County Sheriff and Emergency Medical Services responded and treated the patient at the scene until she could be taken by ambulance to Dickinson for further medical care. On Tuesday, July 11, two rangers responded to a report of an injured hiker on Stevens Mountain.Rangers located a 53-year-old Cortlandt Manor man at around 11:22 a.m. The man had sustained a shoulder injury, which was treated.
