Southern California could get 4 inches of rain this week, NWS says Southern Californians can expect a rainy week as they prepare for Christmas.Two storms are headed to the area, first a weaker system expected to arrive overnight Monday and then the second Tuesday night.While the first storm is expected to bring "light rain" to most areas, the second "looks more impactful and has the potential to bring more significant flood-related impacts to the area with moderate to heavy rain, possible thunderstorms, and gusty southeast winds," the National Weather Service said.The National Weather Service released this map of projected rainfall totals from a coming storm on Dec. 17, 2023.From Tuesday through Friday night, much of the Southland is expected to get 3 to 4 inches of rain, the NWS said. 2 small dogs killed in Exposition Park house fire Two small dogs were killed when a fire erupted in a family home in the Exposition Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles overnight. The fire was reported shortly before 11:45 p.m. Sunday at a two-story home in the 1200 block of 36th Place. Crews respond to a fire in the Exposition Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles on Dec. 17, 2023. (OnScene.TV)Crews arrived to find fire showing and immediately began fighting the flames. Once inside the home, firefighters located two small dogs and performed life-saving measures.Unfortunately, both of the dogs were beyond medical help and died, stringer news service OnScene.TV reported. The fire was eventually extinguished with the help of additional crews. Family of man fatally gunned down say first responders ‘negligent’ No injuries to citizens or firefighters were reported. Storm batters Northeastern US with rain and wind, knocking out power and threatening flooding NEW YORK (AP) — A storm moving up the East Coast brought heavy rain and high winds to the Northeast on Monday, threatening flooding, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands, and forcing flight cancelations and school closings.The National Weather Service predicted that up to 5 inches (13 centimeters) of rain would fall in parts of the region. More than 300,000 power outages were reported in Pennsylvania and New England, with numerous reports of trees falling on power lines.
