The container was discovered in May during a statue restoration project. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The box didn't meet expectations, however. Historians only found a layer of silt they think settled at the bottom because moisture entered the container. But officials said they aren't done investigating the mystery."We don't want to think they went through all this trouble to not put anything in it, so what we are gonna do is we will take the silt, put it through a fine mesh screen, and find any remains and determine what if anything was in here," West Point archeologist Paul Hudson said. "Potentially, it was something small and organic that may have come apart over time, but we are just not certain." Military veteran goes on one last hot air ball...

St. Charles asks residents to send pics of cars with illegal temp tags ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The mayor of St. Charles wants citizens to help get drivers with expired temporary tags off the streets. He’s calling on them to take pictures of the Illegal tags and send them to the city, so they can pursue legal action.“One of the primary complaints is temp tags,” Mayor Dan Borgmeyer said. “We really can’t assign officers just to handle that, so the police chief and I collaborated and came up with a plan where we’re asking people, if you’re behind a car with an expired tag, take your cell phone, take a picture of it, and we’ll have an email address that they can send it too, and then we’ll follow up on that. Then we can turn this into an administrative function instead of a police function.”The mayor’s idea comes as the state implements a new law that may eliminate 90% of temp tags. The law would have auto dealers collect the sales taxes and presumably fold that into the cost of the vehicle. The law went into effect on Monday but won’t be fully implemented for a...
