By Michael R. Sisak | Associated PressNEW YORK — Ivanka Trump’s testimony at her father’s New York civil fraud trial is being delayed until next week so there is sufficient time for her to be questioned, a judge said Monday.Former President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter had been set to take the witness stand on Friday, when the Manhattan trial typically meets for a half-day session, but lawyers in the case said her testimony is likely to take a full day, if not longer.Judge Arthur Engoron, who last week rejected Ivanka Trump’s bid to avoid testifying, said she will now appear on Nov. 8. The judge had floated the idea of making Friday a full-day court session, but Donald Trump’s lawyers said they couldn’t do that because of other commitments.“I think we’re all OK with Ivanka on Wednesday the 8th,” Engoron said in court after discussing the matter with state lawyers and Donald Trump’s defense team. The scheduling change now p...Purdy OK after scare, but 49ers ‘slow and tired’ entering bye, trade deadline

SANTA CLARA – Coach Kyle Shanahan kicked off the 49ers’ bye week with a film review of their third straight loss and it showed some alarming things. That included the scary way Brock Purdy’s head bounced off the Levi’s Stadium grass with 1 1/2 minutes to go, and only a day after the quarterback had cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol from the previous game.“It was a scare when you see the tape, or when I saw the tape, but in talking to him after the game and today, he’s been totally fine,” Shanahan said Monday in the wake of a 31-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. When it came to the 49ers’ defense, Shanahan found something that factored into the toxic combination of missed tackles, blown coverages and a pass rush that couldn’t stop the Bengals’ Joe Burrow from entering halftime with 19 consecutive completions on his 28-of-32 day that featured three touchdowns.“What sticks out the most on tape was how slow and tired I thoug...Ex-officer on trial again over deadly Breonna Taylor raid

Hankison was acquitted in a state trial last year.Jury selection lasted all day Monday and will continue Tuesday morning. Lawyers are working to select 16 from a pool of about 50 potential jurors.Taylor was shot to death by officers who were executing a drug search warrant, which was later found to be flawed. Taylor’s boyfriend fired a single shot that hit one of the officers as they came through the door, and officers returned fire, striking Taylor in her hallway multiple times. By David Sharp, Robert F. Bukaty, Jake Bleiberg and Patrick Whittle | Associated PressLEWISTON, Maine — Authorities in Maine spent Monday piecing together the events that led to the worst mass shooting in the state’s history — with the gunman’s record of interaction with police and warning signs involving mental illness and violent threats emerging as key threads. Those same authorities are facing growing scrutiny over how the shooter was able to keep his guns and remain on the street despite exhibiting signs that he might commit violent acts.Robert Card — the gunman who was found dead Friday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound — underwent a mental health evaluation last summer after he began acting erratically at an Army training facility in New York, officials said. A bulletin sent to police shortly after last week’s attack said Card had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks after “hearing voices and threats to shoot up” a military bas...THC gummies found in candy bowl at Bay Area elementary school

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Bay Area Rapid Transit District officials said "the end of an era" is happening on November 30, when paper tickets will no longer be accepted as payment from riders.Paper tickets are disappearing and Clipper cards are taking over the transit system. "This change is occurring as BART begins to roll out new state of the art fare gates, which will not accept paper tickets," BART officials wrote. "The slot for paper tickets will be covered up."New fare gates are being installed in BART's 50 stations as part of its "Safe And Clean" Plan with hopes to attracting more riders. The new fare gates will be taller and stronger to preveting fare evaders from hopping over them. West Oakland's BART station will be the first station with new gates installed. More than 700 gates will be installed systemwide by the end of 2025. The arrest was connected to an investigation launched in July by the Santa Rosa PD Narcotics Team. The investigation centered around a drug trafficking organization that allegedly used "runners" to distribute large amounts of meth around Santa Rosa and surrounding areas. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers have their first victory of the season. But that isn’t expected to deter general manager Scott Fitterer from exploring potential trades before Tuesday’s deadline. That’s not anything particularly new for Fitterer, who prides himself on “being in on every deal.”Being 1-6 approaching the midway point of the season certainly puts the Panthers in the position of being sellers, giving their desire to restock their draft shelves after giving up four picks to the Chicago Bears last year to move up to No. 1 to select Young. That trade left the Panthers without a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick. Carolina still has its own second-, third- and fourth round picks next year, along with picks in the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds from other teams.Panthers coach Frank Reich said Monday he planned to meet with Fitterer to discuss any trades that might be in the works.“I’ve learned in these situations to trust the GM...Latest news
