ST. LOUIS - Two institutions in the City of St. Louis lead a new list ranking the best public high schools in Missouri. US News and World Report released its annual rankings of the best high schools in the nation earlier this week. The rankings also break down the best high schools in each state. For Missouri, the top two schools recognized are both in the Saint Louis Public Schools district. That includes Metro Academic and Classical High School at the top and the Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience as the runner-up. "It's a big day for SLPS! We now have the TOP TWO HIGH SCHOOLS IN MISSOURI!" the district replied in response to the rankings via Twitter. High schools in the St. Louis and Kansas City metros dominated the top of the list. ST. LOUIS -- Drivers are getting a surprise deal on gas Thursday, courtesy of Circle K. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A man driving a vehicle without license plates reportedly led officers on a high speed chase around north St. Louis County last week. Prosecutors have charged Rashaud First with resisting arrest and endangering the welfare of a child in the investigation. St. Charles County Executive says residents taking unfair advantage of flood buyout program According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, the chase began on Aug. 24 on New Halls Ferry Road. Investigators say First took off from the scene, with another woman and a one-year-old child in the car, as police attempted to pull him over. First was speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, and did not obey traffic lights during the chase, per court documents, He reportedly threw a pistol out of a window and came to a stop near Scranton Avenue. Police later seized the pistol and a bag containing multi-color capsules. After completing its $7.6 billion purchase of PDC Energy, Chevron Corp. expects to terminate at least one-third of the positions at PDC’s offices in Denver and Evans, but the company said people can apply for open jobs at the merged company.As required by state law, Chevron notified the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment of the impending layoffs Aug. 25. Chevron said it told employees about the layoffs during town halls last week.Chevron has more than 500 open positions that PDC Energy employees can apply for, said Kim McHugh, vice president of the company’s Rockies business unit.PDC has about 600 workers. Chevron’s notice to the state said the maximum number of layoffs would be 199, but that most would be offered jobs.“The PDC Energy employees are critical to our success as we continue to operate in the DJ Basin.
