Broncos stock report: Too little, too late from Russell Wilson, Denver’s core players Sunday night vs. Patriots

Stock UpRB Jaleel McLaughlinThe Broncos rookie running back had 10 touches for 67 yards and looked poised to do more than that early in the game. McLaughlin has limitations, but he’s fast, he can make defenders miss and he brings a dynamic Denver’s other backs don’t have. It would be interesting over the last two games to see him take on a more significant role in Sean Payton’s offensive plan, both as a runner and a pass-catcher.WR Brandon JohnsonThe second-year man stepped in for Courtland Sutton (concussion) and played as extensively as he has all year. Johnson has been limited since returning from injured reserve several weeks ago but got 47 snaps and caught three balls for 47 yards and a touchdown, plus a two-point conversion. Johnson’s got burst, which he put on display on his 21-yard scoring grab. Depending on how Sutton progresses through concussion protocol, Denver may rely on Johnson again Sunday.TE Lucas KrullDenver might have found a useful player over the longer term in ...Colorado snow totals for December 26, 2023

Welcome to homebuying’s slowest day of the year.My trusty spreadsheet looked at some curious house-hunting stats from real estate tracker Attom, which tallied closed transactions and median pricing patterns by day of the year between 2013 and 2022. Yes, we’re talking daily data from closings – minus the bank holidays of New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, and Christmas. That data shows us that Dec. 26 is the slowest sales day of the year. The day after Christmas averaged 4,719 closings over 10 years, 62% below the average sales day in California with 12,270 closings in these 10 years. Obviously, sales are slow this time of year because who’d want to do big business amid holiday challenges and cheer.Curiously, those who did close deals on this day paid an average $390,000 price – 19% below California’s $480,000 10-year norm. That pricing averaged $9,200 above the estimated value – a premium that’s 56% below the typical markup of $20,700.So it seems like post-Christmas shopp...49ers’ Brock Purdy after the crash and burn: ‘I have to be real with myself and be better’

SANTA CLARA — Brock Purdy took the postgame podium on Christmas night the way he has 14 other times this season. No sign of outward emotion, whether it be euphoria or despair. But a 33-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at Levi’s Stadium was unlike any Purdy has had in the brief whirlwind that has been his 49ers career. The same guy who had carved up four teams with winning records in one-sided victories, compiling a 141.2 passer rating with 13 touchdown passes and zero interceptions bottomed out with a 42.6 rating with no touchdown passes and four turnovers.A burgeoning Most Valuable Player candidacy was over, not that it ever seemed to matter much to Purdy, who himself backed teammate Christian McCaffrey. He finished 18 of 32 for 255 yards, but that was window dressing to the worst night of his professional career. The worst by a longshot — and it came with the entire country watching. We’ll learn a lot about how the 49ers bounce back the next two weeks in hopes ...¿Se van a “extinguir” los uruguayos?

Luego, tenemos una población cada vez...Maryland unemployment rate remains lowest in the nation

NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Chris Wood scored a hat trick against his former club as Nottingham Forest beat Newcastle 3-1 in the Premier League on Tuesday. Wood, who signed with Newcastle for £25 million ($32 million) in January before joining Forest in the summer, took advantage of woeful defending at St. James’ Park to help Forest end a seven-match winless league run and give new manager Nuno Espirito Santo his first victory. Newcastle took a 23rd-minute lead through Alexander Isak’s penalty but missed several opportunities to build on its advantage.Forest then pulled even in first-half stoppage time when Morgan Gibbs-White sprinted upfield and played a ball to Anthony Elanga, who slid a pass which Wood easily tapped in.After Gibbs-White sent a header wide in the opening moments of the second half, Wood ran onto a pass from Elanga, turned defender Dan Burn inside out and lifted a shot over Martin Dubavka to put Forest in front in the 53rd minuteForest then made it 3-1 seven minutes ...How Ukrainian special forces secured a critical Dnipro River crossing in southern Ukraine

KHERSON, Ukraine (AP) — Their first battle plan was outdated the moment the dam crumbled. So the Ukrainian special forces officers spent six months adapting their fight to secure a crossing to the other side of the Dnipro River in southern Ukraine. But it wasn’t enough just to cross the river. They needed backup to hold it. And for that, they needed proof that it could be done. For one of the officers, nicknamed Skif, that meant a flag — and a photo op.Skif, Ukrainian shorthand for the nomadic Scythian people who founded an empire on what is now Crimea, moves like the camouflaged amphibian that he is: Calculating, deliberate, until the time to strike. He is an officer in Center 73, one of Ukraine’s most elite units of special forces — frontline scouts, drone operators, underwater saboteurs. Their strike teams are part of the Special Operations Forces that run the partisans in occupied territories, sneak into Russian barracks to plant bombs and prepare the ground for reclaiming territo...Latest news
