AUSTIN (KXAN) — Students across Central Texas will be returning to the classroom in just a few weeks.Back-to-school dates range from Aug. 7 in Cherokee ISD to Aug. 28 in Doss CCSD and Prairie Lea ISD.To help keep track of all the dates, KXAN has created a map and compiled a list showing the first day of classes in each district in the KXAN viewing area. Man found guilty of terroristic threat against peace officer, DA's office says Editor's Note: The video above shows KXAN Live’s top headlines for July 25, 2023TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A jury last week convicted a man of a terroristic threat against a peace officer stemming from an incident that happened in September of last year. Kyle Taylor, 39, was found guilty of two counts of terroristic threat against a peace officer, according to a release from the Travis County District Attorney's Office. Testimony for the jury trial started Tuesday, July 18, and on Wednesday, July 19, the jury deliberated and found Taylor guilty of the two counts. According to the district attorney's office, the Lago Vista Police Department received warrants for Taylor’s arrest on Sept. 8, 2022, for offenses that took place on Sept. 7.  Lago Vista PD arrested Taylor on Jan. 10, and he was indicted on two counts of the offense of terroristic threat against a peace officer on March 28, according to the release. I don’t expect him to initially be a full participant off the bat,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said. “We haven’t really seen him since last season. He looks great. A missing Forest Lake girl who was found safe on Friday spent the last two months living in a tent in a wooded area in Pine County, Minn., according to a criminal complaint filed against a man who allegedly helped her.The man, ShawnShawn Patrick Bellach. Washington County home health aides arrested on grand larceny charges KINGSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Two home health care workers have been arrested on grand larceny charges. The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Kimberly Ouderkerk, 50, of Hudson Falls, and Aireal Bailey, 22, of Queensbury, were arrested on July 21. Shiloh, Illinois man killed in shooting at MetroLink station WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. - A Shiloh, Illinois, man was shot to death early Tuesday morning at a MetroLink station in the Metro East.The shooting occurred just before 5:30 a.m., following an altercation between two individuals at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Station. The shooter ran from the station while the victim stayed on the train until the Washington Park station.Our Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX helicopter was flying over the area, where medical staff could be seen administering chest compressions to a person before they were taken away in an ambulance. Chesterfield man charged in business burglaries ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Chesterfield, Missouri, man is accused of breaking into two a pair of Creve Coeur businesses more than a week ago.According to a report filed by the Creve Coeur Police Department, the robberies occurred on July 16.Police went to the 12300 block of Olive Boulevard for a triggered alarm at Smart Mouth. An officer noticed a man sitting in a lobby chair eating food, and recognized him from a prior incident. That man got up and ran away, but left his phone behind.The officer looked up the phone number of the man from a prior arrest and called that number. The cellphone started ringing, confirming the officer's suspicions.
