SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants did not literally fall apart Wednesday, though with injuries to Michael Conforto and Bryce Johnson it might have felt like it, but things started to metaphorically crumble in the sixth inning of their rubber match against the Dodgers.A tied game when Taylor Rogers took over at the start of the sixth, the inning began with four straight free passes, including one on a pitch-clock violation and another on the losing end of a 15-pitch battle, and ended with the Giants in a five-run hole after a big shot by — who else? — Max Muncy, the Giant killer who homered two more times and has done so against San Francisco more times than any other player in the majors since 2018.The Giants lost, 10-5. They dropped two of three to the Dodgers, who won’t visit Oracle Park again until the last home stand of the season. By then, who knows if the Giants will still be in contention, but they have to hope, at least, that it won’t be as dreadful as their first set o...Amador Valley baseball: From six wins last year to serious contenders

SAN JOSE — Bellarmine scored two runs in the top of the first inning and almost made them stand up. But Valley Christian, the No. 1 ranked team in the Bay Area News Group’s Top 20, scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out a 5-2 victory WednesdayThe Warriors trailed 2-1 heading into the sixth. Bellarmine starter Wade Mountz got the first out before walking Brock Kettelsen on a 3-2 pitch and giving up a single to center by Jordan Ortiz. Bellarmine coach Nate Sutton went to his bullpen then, bringing in Paul Montgomery with a 1-0 count on Jacob Hudson.Montgomery and Mountz are Bellarmine’s two top pitchers. Montgomery comes in from the side with a motion that can be problematic for right-handed batters. But Hudson, the 2022 West Catholic Athletic League MVP, doubled to right-center, bringing in both runners and giving his team a 3-2 lead.“We were expecting to see him earlier in the week so we were practicing against that sinker a little bit,”...Why have there been no updates in the Bob Lee investigation?
