WASHINGTON (Nexstar) – After lawmakers reached a deal to increase the debt ceiling to prevent the U.S. from defaulting, Republican senators are unhappy with the deal that was spearheaded by their colleagues in the House.South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham says he and other Republican senators are unhappy with the cap on defense spending imposed by the deal. LAKE FOREST, Ill. — The Bears' attempt to build a new stadium in the Chicago suburbs might not be limited to Arlington Heights.In fact, Naperville could be in play.On Friday, the Bears released a statement in which they said that the Arlington Park property is no longer their "singular focus" when it comes to building a new venue to play their home games. UVALDE, Texas (KXAN) -- Uvalde police said Friday they're investigating a bomb threat at the school where a deadly mass shooting happened last year, according to a social media post from the department. According to police, law enforcement agencies are working a "threat to life" after someone called 911 and told them he placed bombs around Robb Elementary School. Police said the person also claimed to be driving around with an assault rifle.Police said the area will be blocked off to all traffic, and the incident is being investigated. Everyone is urged to avoid the area. Last week the community held events to mark one year since a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers at the school. This is a developing story. AUSTIN (KXAN) — A new study shows Airbnb rental properties in Austin are among the most expensive in the nation.The study, by ChamberofCommerce.org, looked at rental prices of more than 160,000 active Airbnb listings in the largest cities in the country.Austin had the third-most expensive rentals, with an average daily rate of $373 across all property sizes. An average one-bedroom rental in Austin costs $127, while two-bedroom properties charge an average of $203 per night.Only Oxnard, California, and Scottsdale, Arizona, have more expensive rentals. The average daily rate in Scottsdale is $394, while an average rental in Oxnard will set you back $488 per night.Behind Austin, Las Vegas and Honolulu round out the top five.Other cities in California and Arizona feature highly on the list. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the Best Friends Animal Society annual report, 56% of New York animal shelters are now no-kill. The report indicates that only 45% of state shelters were no-kill in 2021. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! “We are at the tipping point of taking the country no-kill,” said Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society. “This critical mass of no-kill shelters shows that it’s possible to save every healthy and treatable pet in a shelter, and it’s sustainable. 93% of shelters in the U.S. that were no-kill in 2021 maintained it the following year.” The report also indicates that despite the intakes statewide, the number of animals saved also increased.
