Suspect burglarizes Mar Vista home being fumigated

A Mar Vista resident was taking action to get rid of unwanted pests in her home, but ended up being a victim of burglary. Surveillance video shows a burglar stealing valuables as the house was being fumigated. It’s the second time in a week burglars have targeted homes being fumigated. The homeowner says she is extremely upset and feels violated, but she is thankful no one was home during the time of the break in and her family is safe. “It’s actually been a little bit of a nightmare,” said Alexis Gilliam-Lerner. “They cut the screen, cut the tent, came into my home, and they were just in my home taking things from me."Suspect climbing through the window of a home in Mar Vista to steal belongingsGilliam-Lerner says the suspect made entry from the backyard. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife plans to award more than $8 million to organizations across the state to improve recreational boat access for the public.The CDFW Boating Access Grant Program will reimburse the costs of projects that improve and maintain facilities that give Californians access to recreational boating.“California’s waterways, from our coastline to majestic lakes and a vast network of rivers, provide unparalleled recreational opportunities for every boater,” said CDFW Director Charlton H. (KRON) -- A Bay Area police officer was "in the right place at the right time" while he was out patrolling. San Pablo Police Department Officer Oswald heard a 911 medical call on September 9 reporting that a 1-week-old infant was not breathing. Oswald was near the baby's location at West County Health facility and rushed to the scene. Oswald, who is also a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, found the infant's mother crying and asking for help. "Officer Oswald took the child and began performing infant CPR. Within seconds officers were able to dislodge the obstruction and the baby began crying," SPPD wrote. According to a project by Favy, Santa Cruz is the best coffee city in the United States. The study compared 267 American cities, including factors such as walkability and whether the city has nationally acclaimed coffee shops. CAPITOLA, Calif. (KRON) -- Nearly nine months have passed since powerful winter storms and massive ocean waves split the Capitola Wharf in half. Surfers were out catching much smaller waves on Monday when a welcomed sight appeared next to the broken wharf. Construction crews began staging and setting up machinery.Many locals wondered when they would be able to walk and fish along the wharf again. The good news is, construction for rebuilding the iconic wharf is scheduled to begin next week.
