CHICAGO -- More than a fourth of the Chicago City Council are new members after being sworn in Monday morning.They range from alderpeople who have no city government experience at all to those who’ve worked within city hall for years. As all 50 alderpeople swore an oath on Monday, 13 are doing it for the very first time. OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (WDAF) - A newly released court document shows police responded to a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas after a report of a battery involving Jackson Mahomes, but it turned into much more serious allegations.According to the case affidavit released Monday, police responded to Aspens Restaurant on Feb. 25, 2023, after a man said Jackson Mahomes shoved his son, who works at the restaurant.The employee had just entered the key code to unlock the restaurant office to retrieve his water bottle when Jackson Mahomes shoved him, according to the document.Investigators reviewed surveillance video of the incident and said it shows Jackson Mahomes pushing the employee. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Some areas of Central Texas have recorded 7-8 inches of rain in the last week, while others have seen just 1-3 inches. Additional on-and-off rain and thunderstorms continue on Tuesday.The highest rain totals have come near Mason, where over 8 inches of rain has fallen. Stillwater native Ben Warian is in a great position to contend after the first round of the NCAA Bath Regional men’s golf tournament. The Gophers junior shot a 4-under 67 on Monday at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich.That leaves the Hill-Murray grad in a tie for fifth overall with two rounds to play. Georgia’s Ben Van Wyk leads the tournament after shooting a first-round 65.More importantly from Warian’s perspective, he’s currently tied for the one-and-only individual qualifier spot. A man who died after a weekend shooting in St. Paul was identified by police Monday as Michael Martin, 35.Multiple people called 911 at 2:38 a.m. Saturday to report that someone was shot in the Dayton’s Bluff area. Officers found Martin in a house in the 1000 block of Pacific Street. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the hospital, according to police.No one was under arrest as of Monday and police said they are investigating the circumstances of the shooting, including where it happened. Investigators asked anyone with information to call them at 651-266-5650.Martin’s homicide was the 14th of the year in St. Paul. Judge Caroline Lennon has been elected by her peers to continue serving as chief judge of Minnesota’s First Judicial District for a new two-year term. An election was held among the district’s 36 judges in Carver, Dakota, Goodhue, Le Sueur, McLeod, Scott and Sibley counties.Lennon was elevated to chief judge from assistant chief judge upon the retirement of former Chief Judge Kevin Mark in January. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany Police are investigating five shootings that happened over Mother's Day weekend. They say ten people were shot, including two children.Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Chief Eric Hawkins, District Attorney David Soares, and other law enforcement officials provided an update Monday afternoon. According to Chief Hawkins, it does not appear that the various incidents are related. No arrests have yet been made.Officers responded to Village Barber and Beauty on the 200 block of Second Avenue Saturday afternoon for reports of three people being shot. 47-year-old Stanley Tyrone died from his injuries. A nine-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.Police said another child was shot in the hand on Saturday night in the area of Second Street and Ontario Street. A 37-year-old man was also shot in the back. Both are expected to recover. LOUIS - In a new court filing, the Missouri Attorney General claims St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner was at nursing school while she supposed to be attending a contempt of court hearing.On May 4, Gardner announced she would be stepping down from her role as the city's chief prosecutor, effective June 1.Gardner had faced legal battles on numerous fronts via Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s drive to remove her from office and indirect criminal contempt cases, and a dwindling roster of prosecutors in her office due to resignations. It’s a situation at least one St. Louis judge dubbed a “rudderless ship of chaos.”The day before the announcement, FOX 2 learned Gardner had enrolled in nursing courses at Saint Louis University to obtain an advanced nursing degree.
