Vunipola red-carded for England in 29-10 loss to Ireland in Rugby World Cup warmup DUBLIN (AP) — England’s preparations for the Rugby World Cup plunged into further chaos when Billy Vunipola was red-carded for a dangerous tackle in a 29-10 loss to top-ranked Ireland in a warmup match illuminated by a stunning late try by Keith Earls on Saturday.Vunipola, the only specialist No. 8 in England’s World Cup squad, saw his yellow card upgraded to a red by the newly introduced bunker review system after smashing his right shoulder into the face of Ireland prop Andrew Porter in the 53rd minute at Lansdowne Road.A disciplinary panel will determine the length of Vunipola’s suspension next week but he is in danger of missing the start of the World Cup — just like captain Owen Farrell, who missed the match in Dublin amid his own disciplinary process.World Rugby has appealed against the decision by a judicial committee to overturn a red card handed to Farrell for his dangerous, no-arms tackle on Wales flanker Taine Basham at Twickenham last week. Urías slam, Crawford’s no-hit bid lead Red Sox over imploding Cole, Yankees Whenever the Red Sox play the Yankees, all eyes turn to Rafael Devers.Especially when it’s Gerrit Cole’s turn to start.Pedro Martinez once thought the Yankees were his daddy, but Devers and the Red Sox truly are Cole’s. Entering the series, the 26-year-old already had seven career regular-season home runs against the Yankees ace, and on Saturday afternoon, the Red Sox wiped the floor with the Yankees, to the tune of an 8-1 final score.Devers wasted no time. His 1-out single in the first inning was Boston’s first hit of the game. In his regular-season career, it was also his 10th hit off Cole, and 50th single/90th hit against Yankees pitching.Cole likely breathed a sigh of relief that Devers’ 101.9 mph scorcher was simply a single, but he’d soon face trouble from a most unlikely source. The Yankees starter began the top of the second by allowing back-to-back singles to Adam Duvall and Jarren Duran, then walked Pablo Reyes to load the bases for Luis ...
