Ice skating returns to the Empire State Plaza

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The outdoor skating rink at the Empire State Plaza officially opens on Friday, December 1! Everyone is invited to bring their skates and hit the ice starting at noon. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! For those who do not own a pair, rentals are available for $5. Skate sizes range from child size 8 to adult size 15. Renters must have a photo ID. There will also be 25¢ locker rentals in the glass pavilion adjacent to the rink.The rink will be open from noon to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. From 6 to 8 p.m., there will be a Rock-N-Skate with guest DJ Mr. CEO. For those wanting to learn to skate, the Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club will host free learn-to-skate clinics throughout the winter. QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Spargel on Nine, a new authentic German restaurant in Queensbury, is getting ready to open its doors. HAZELWOOD, Mo. -- Two men are accused of killing a hotel manager after an argument on Saturday. Jaylin Mcelroy, 20, and Marshaun Brinkley, 18, both of Florissant, face murder and assault charges. Victor Fooks is identified as the victim.Mcelroy and Brinkley were asked to leave the InTown Suites Extended Stay Hotel in Hazelwood Saturday after an altercation in one of the rooms. The hotel manager, Victor Fooks, and another worker were in the parking lot to make sure the men left the premises. Bi-State may run Loop Trolley one year longer than planned The suspects were in separate locations in the parking lot with their guns drawn. Brinkley argued with Fooks, who was unarmed. Police say that Mcelroy and an unnamed juvenile suspect fired at the hotel workers. WOODSON TERRACE, Mo. -- A St. Louis County woman is charged with beating a man with a frying pan. Nicole Mullins, 33, faces assault charges and is being held on a $75,000 cash-only bond.A neighbor called police Saturday afternoon to let them know about the incident. Officers arrived in the 4400 block of Herbert Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. They found a man suffering from a severe beating. His face was covered in blood and he had several cuts and scratches. A woman suffered major injuries after an attempted purse snatch led to her being dragged down a road. According to deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Industry Station, the incident took place in the parking lot outside the Costco in the City of Industry at 6:40 p.m. Sunday evening. The 26-year-old victim was loading items into her car when another car pulled up, police said. Some law enforcement agencies are encouraging iPhone users to be cautious following a new update. The Middletown Division of Police in Ohio posted a warning to parents on Facebook over the weekend regarding the "NameDrop" feature included in the iOS 17 update.
