Published Tue, 18 Feb 2025 20:19:15 GMT

The attorney general has not yet determined whether she will represent the state’s auditor in her attempt to force the Legislature to comply with an audit of their affairs.Auditor Diane DiZoglio’s announcement earlier this year that she would begin the first audit of the state Legislature in decades was met with immediate dismissal from state lawmakers, who claimed the former legislator lacked the authority to look into another branch of government’s work. DiZoglio responded to the Legislature’s stonewalling of her efforts by asking the Attorney General to sue for their compliance.“This is a very serious decision,” Attorney General Andrea Campbell told WCVB on Sunday. “It’s rare that you have one branch of government looking to sue another branch of government. We’ve met with her, we’re reviewing her documents, we’ve also met with the Legislature and we’ll have a decision soon.”In March, DiZoglio said her office’s effort to look under the hood of the state Legislature would re...

TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — After Azerbaijan’s military offensive regained full control of the breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh region, another dispute is looming on the horizon with Armenia: the territory of Nakhchivan.Like Nagorno-Karabakh, where the Armenian population felt cut off from the country of Armenia, Nakhchivan is territorially separated from the rest of Azerbaijan. It accounts for about 6% of Azerbaijan’s territory, with a swath of Armenia about 40 kilometers (25 miles) wide between the exclave and Azerbaijan. During Soviet times, Nakhchivan was connected with Azerbaijan by road and rail but those links fell out of use as Azerbaijan and Armenia went to war in the 1990s over Nagorno-Karabakh, though air links remained. Then in 2020, an armistice...
