(The Hill) -- Lyft on Tuesday announced a new feature allowing women and nonbinary drivers to match with more women and nonbinary riders. The ride-hailing service said the new feature, called “Women+ Connect,” offers women and nonbinary drivers the option to prioritize matches with other nearby women and nonbinary riders. When the feature goes live, women and nonbinary riders will be prompted to select “Count me in” in their apps, increasing their chances of being matched with their preferred drivers. Apple set to unveil the iPhone 15. Here’s what to expect Lyft said that if there are no women or nonbinary riders nearby, drivers with the preference on will still be matched with men, adding that the new feature isn’t a guarantee of matches with preferred choices. “Women+ Connect is all about providing more women and nonbinary people the opportunity to earn money on their terms and giving riders more choice,” Lyft CEO David Risher said in a statement. “We hope this give...Taco Bell sign falls on car; see how driver 'miraculously' survives

CROWLEY, La. (KLFY)-- A severe storm passing through Louisiana last week caused a Taco Bell sign to fall onto a car, crushing it and trapping someone inside, according to Crowley Police Department. The person, the only one in the car at the time of the accident Friday, was freed and taken to a nearby hospital. "EMTs were on sight pretty quick," Scott Richard, superintendent of Acadia Parish, said. "Emergency personnel were here very quickly. The individual was taken out of the car very carefully and miraculously she was not injured more than what her injuries were." The car's driver, who appeared to be going through the Taco Bell drive-thru, was trapped inside after the sign collapsed and fell on the car, flattening the back half of the vehicle and narrowly missing the driver in the front seat. "As you can tell if you do some closeups of where the sign actually fell, no one else was injured because it's a pretty big sign, very high sign," Richard said....Aaron Rodgers has torn Achilles tendon and will likely miss season, source says

But it’s not good.”On his fourth regular-season snap in a Jets uniform, Rodgers tried to avoid a rushing Leonard Floyd, who wrapped up the qu...Affidavit: Man charged with murder after allegedly shooting man following fight at strip club

Brian Cosgriff knows a great basketball player when he sees one, and the Minnetonka High School girls basketball coach thinks the Gophers got one on Tuesday when Tori McKinney committed to play next season for coach Dawn Plitzuweit.“That’s one thing about getting old,” Cosgriff said, “You’ve experienced a lot. (McKinney) will be one of the best ever to wear the maroon and gold.”That’s high praise from anyone but especially from Cosgriff, who coached a lot of Power 5 players while winning seven state titles in 21 seasons before retiring from Hopkins in 2020, among them Paige Bueckers (UConn), Maya Nnaji (Arizona) and Amaya Battle (Gophers). And the ones he didn’t coach, he tried to contain, such as the Gophers’ Mara Braun.McKinney, a 6-foot1 wing, announced her commitment Tuesday morning via social media with the simple message, “Staying home.” She spent all of her junior season on the bench with a broken tibia; otherwise, Cosgriff said, she would be nationally ranked alongside ...Petition filed to block Trump from Minnesota’s 2024 ballot under ‘insurrection clause’

ST. PAUL, Minn. — A group of Minnesota voters filed a legal challenge Tuesday to try to block former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state’s presidential ballot next year. The petition, filed with the Minnesota Supreme Court, argues that Trump is disqualified from public office under the rarely used “insurrection clause” of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The petitioners, including Democratic former Minnesota Secretary of State Joan Growe, argue that anyone who has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution, and then engages in insurrection, is barred from ever holding public office again. It’s the latest in what’s expected to be a series of similar challenges being filed by liberal groups across the country over Trump’s to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden and his alleged support for the assault of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. One was filed in Colorado last Thursday. The lawsuits appear destined to end up before the U.S. Supreme Court....Local first responder organizations awarded $345K+ in funding
